Hardwood Design can provide elevation drawings of your component combination. We encourage architects to include these drawings in your specification packages to contractors.

We can provide CAD shop drawings that are invaluable in the layout and construction of stairs and rail systems. If your home plans are on CAD already, you can e-mail us the floor plans which can serve as the basis for our design. We can also provide full scale plots of layouts and components for review or construction purposes.

Handrails, Shoerails, Subrails, Fillets & Fittings

Hand Rails (banaster) serve to assist in the save assent and descent on a stair. A handrail can be wall mounted or open (with balusters (spindles) under. HDI specializes in fabrication of handrails and fittings in any species of wood and in one job orders. When ordering handrails specify lengths required as well as use (wall rail or open). All railings may be plowed and supplied with fillets or subrails.

Fittings & Box Newels

Box Newels are posts that are assembled from flat solid lumber. Typically these posts have panel, fluting and moldings mitered around the various layers of the post. Box newels may have turned balls or details on the top.

Rosettes & Stringer Brackets

Rosettes & Wall Rail Brackets Rosettes are the easiest way to terminate a railing to a wall. The rosette is fastened to the end of the rail and then screwed or nailed to the wall. Wall rail brackets, typically metal, are used to support a railing that is wall mounted. Wall rail brackets come in a variety of styles and finishes.
